Our N/ATION Review:
The largest independently-owned craft brewery in Illinois has officially entered the non-alcoholic chat. Revolution Brewing's Anti-Hero IPA has long held the title of the #1 selling IPA in the Land of Lincoln, and so it tracks their NA entry would be a direct line extension of the flagship. Enter Anti-Zero, a zero-proof take on the brew that put Revolution on the map, and a serious contender in an increasingly crowded NA IPA field.
Anti-Zero is packed with the same hop bill as Anti-Hero, aiming to deliver the bold citrus, pine, and floral character fans expect, just in a non-alcoholic form. The beer pours a dark golden brown, deeper than you might expect from a typical NA IPA, with minimal foam that fades quickly. It's a handsome-looking pour that signals there's some real malt backbone underneath.
On the nose, the pine and resin notes that define Anti-Hero come through clearly, which is a welcome sign. NA IPAs often lose that dank, resiny quality in the de-alcoholization process, but Anti-Zero holds onto it. The bitterness is present but measured, and approachable enough for someone new to the style, while still satisfying for the hop head who's just cutting back.
At 73 calories and 15g of carbs per 12 oz. can, it's a lighter option that doesn't ask you to sacrifice much in return. For fans of the original who are sober curious, doing a dry month, or simply moderating, Anti-Zero is a genuinely solid stand-in. While Anti-Zero launched as a taproom-only offering to start, it will be available via distribution across Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.
